Going to the states is so exciting, why???? because it means I get new camera equipment

CHEAP

So this last trip, I got

1.collapsable lense hood $20.00

2. extra battery for my xsi and a wide angle lense....

$125.00 for the both

I haven't figured out the ins and ours of my lense yet, it is not a stand along lense it is an adaptor....and when I was trying to ask questions, there was a language barrier....but hopefully I will get to play with it this weekend.

So all in all, I saved about 30-40 on the lense hood (plus it's collapsable!!!!)

and the battery and lense for 125....well that was a huge saving. The battery alone up here is about 100.....so it's like I got the lense for FREE

Now to learn what it is capable of......

our lake

the other morning we took a drive in town to get a coffee and as we drove by the lake I caught a glimpse at how calm the lake was....so I dig out the trusty camera and this is what I got

Being the bonehead that I am....I had my white balance set for indoors...when am I going to learn? But a little help from iphoto....and this is the finished product.

I love the reflection, it is hard to get that as there always seems to be a bit of a wind on the lake here. Hope I can get a pic like this when the leaves have come in.

Even the fog lurking adds to it. I can just imagine how pretty it would have been if I would have had the WB right and maybe my new polarized lense ....duh!!!

Back to work for me tomorrow! Luckily it is only a short week

WOW! Camera stuff is really really expensive.

but i have a little story to share

I purchased a clear lense cap....I was told that it would ultimately protect my lense from scratches and such....so I bought one. $40.00 the stupid thing cost me. So I only bought one at the time....The polarized lense cover....it was like $100.00 (yeah right)

WELL

I was in the states this weekend. And I purchased a clear lense cover for my second lense

$10.00

and I got 2 polarized lense covers.....for 20.99 each

THEN

I bought a 4GB card and a card reader for my computer.

in total it cost me less than $100.00

WOW!!!!!

and why do I shop in Canada? Really it makes no sense to me

Even with paying the tax coming across the border we still saved $$$$

Well I did week 2 of my photography class, and it was all about Aperture. Ok, I have to admit....I'm not really understanding it. But hopefully my homework will help with that.

Photography Class

I thought finding the time to take my photography class was hard, but finding the time to take the photos for homework....was even harder this week. So my pics aren't overly as glamorous and I had hoped, but I think I completed the lessons.....

Here's what I did

it took a couple tries, but I'm glad with how this turned out.

I think outdoors would work a lot better.

This next one is of Rob's youngest spinning.

We had to capture movement.

I love how her hair is flying in the air behind her.

Here is Rob's middle daughter jumping in the air.

What a trooper, she must have jumped 20 times before we finished.

Poor Ben didn't know what was going on.

He was pretty calm during it all since he went in for the big surgery today.

This is my favorite. My DS helped me with this one.

It is a sparkler, and I left the shutter open for 8 seconds to catch this shot.

I love how you can see the sparks bouncing.

This Thursday we learn Aperature....whatever that is. LOL

But I'm sure that I will have fun playing with my camera.
